The Student Government Association has chosen to support the campaign for wellbeing and mental health initiatives as part of Giving Day 2021 because this is an issue that has been a priority for SGA for several years. Our Student Health Committee has focused on offering programs to support student mental health, with a particular focus on the mental health of student-athletes, and they have partnered with faculty to offer Mental Health First Aid training to students across campus. Students cannot succeed in the classroom if they don't have access to excellent mental health resources, and SGA is committed to partnering with the University to help provide those resources to all students in need.
Wellbeing is a priority in the lives of UTSA students, faculty, and staff. We seek to create an intentional and coordinated approach to educating the community about the eight-dimensions of wellbeing (intellectual, physical, emotional, social, occupational, environmental, spiritual, and financial). Through campus and community collaborations we hope to achieve sustainable impact through programs, services, policies, systems, and environmental initiatives.
