The mission of the College of Engineering is to provide outstanding education and research opportunities and service to our region’s multicultural community, the nation and beyond. The college is a major public provider of undergraduate and graduate engineering education in South Texas with an enrollment exceeding 3,400 students, and one of the top colleges for producing the most Hispanic engineers nationwide. It has seen an unprecedented increase of more than 100% in graduate enrollment over the past few years.
Engineering Dean’s Fund. The Dean’s Fund provides for the enhancement of student or faculty programs as particular needs arise. Support goes to UTSA Engineering student organizations, student research and travel, student success initiatives, and faculty travel and development.
Department of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in February 2004. The undergraduate interdisciplinary program combines engineering principles, approaches, and methodologies with biological, chemical and physical sciences in order to define and solve problems in medicine. Your generous support will assist in training students in the fundamentals of science and engineering so that they may go on to investigate fundamental questions associated with complex living systems and generate solutions for the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.
The Chemical Engineering program was established with an undergraduate degree in fall 2017. The program provides an exceptional learning environment and opportunities for discovery through state-of-the-art facilities and partnerships. Your gifts will support training students to use chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics to solve engineering problems related to production, transformation, and utilization of chemicals, materials and energy.
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is committed to excellence in teaching, research and service to the community and the engineering profession. The program provides students opportunities to acquire the skills and to participate in research to advance the discipline and benefit society. Your gifts help students fully participate in an education that integrates fundamental science and engineering skills with design principles to solve complex problems.
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering programs have grown and expanded in specialty recently, there are 26 full-time faculty who are renowned for their research and prestigious national and state teaching awards. Your gift ensures that a diverse student population--500 undergraduate and 180 graduate students--graduate prepared to contribute to our communities.
Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Department of Mechanical Engineering prepares students to be technically competent and socially responsible, while they acquire a solid background to perform diverse engineering functions, succeed in continued education and acquire life-long learning skills. Support goes towards providing the highest quality education and interdisciplinary research in mechanical engineering for the engineers of the future.
