Fostering Educational Success Center

The Fostering Educational Success Center supports UTSA students who have a history of foster care.  Our students often rely on compassionate relationships with champions like YOU to help them overcome these barriers and achieve success!  We aim to improve the graduation rate among this incredibly vulnerable population by building equitable opportunities through innovative programs.

This year, funds raised through Giving Day will be used to support our students' futures with:

  • Financial awards to support career preparedness
  • Mentorship opportunities from peers and alumni
  • Financial and career literacy workshops
  • Special events, invitations, caps and gowns and regalia to celebrate graduation
  • Special alumni engagement opportunities to stay connected with the program after graduation

Thank you for supporting our mission to foster the futures of our students!

"The Fostering Educational Success program resonates with me on both a personal and professional level. I recently retired from a company that is active in supporting children and adolescents in the foster/child welfare/justice system and as a result, became familiar with health care and other needs unique to these youth. The program at UTSA opened my eyes to another part of the picture - the challenges faced when these individuals enter college. They receive support for tuition and fees but there are SO many other aspects to successfully getting to graduation day that we may take for granted. Role modeling, quiet places to study, help in balancing work and school responsibilities are just a few things that many youths have around them without even thinking about it - but many who came up through the foster system do not. In 2020 COVID added so much complexity to this picture, with many jobs disappearing, adding to financial pressures exacerbated by the need to have the right equipment to continue learning remotely. I am so impressed by this program and all they do and I hope you will support them as well."
