Fostering Futures Program
Fostering educational success for Roadrunners who have a history of foster care!

The Fostering Futures Program empowers the next generation of college graduates by building foundations for success through compassionate engagement in inclusive, individualized resources, healthy connection to community, advocacy for advancement, and leadership.  From Admissions to Alumni, we design holistic services unique to fit the individual needs of students, keep folks connected on campus, and collaborate with students advancing into careers. The goal of the UTSA Fostering Futures Program is for students who have a history of foster care to achieve goals in higher education and beyond.

This year, funds raised through Giving Day will be used to provide additional resources to support and acknowledge the success of students with a history of foster care enrolled in the program. Some of the additional resources include textbooks and, for our graduating seniors, a graduation regalia celebratory pack. Oftentimes, this community of students has limited financial resources which delays or limits their ability to purchase textbooks, which can impede their success in the classroom.  The graduation regalia celebratory pack will enable graduating seniors to celebrate their success and participate in the commencement ceremony along with their Roadrunner peers.

Thank you for supporting the mission of Fostering Futures for our students!

“Through the Fostering Futures Program, I've found not only support but a pathway to success. It has guided me through challenges, nurtured my potential, and paved the way to graduation. This program proved that with support and determination, even the toughest journeys lead to success.”

- Amber, Spring 2024 graduate

“Being a participant of the Fostering Futures program has been such an uplifting experience. I have been so fortunate to have received resources such as the food pantry, financial assistance and mentorship. I have found a safe place in the Fostering Futures program and I am glad to have been given the opportunity to be a participant, while I navigated through completing my degree in Environmental Science. I look forward to graduating this Spring 2024 and continuing onto my master program at Texas Tech University in Natural Resources Management. I am so beyond grateful for everything that the UTSA fostering futures program has had to offer and I am glad other prospective and current undergraduate students will get to experience the program as well!”

-Gabriella

“I can overcome challenges and stay focused on my studies with the support of Fostering Futures.”
-Shelly, transfer student

“The FFP has a special place in my heart. The FFP is like a second home. Everyone makes me feel welcomed and I have met so many new and amazing people. It feels like a safe place a home away from home. A plus is there are fun events to attend and also if need of anything they have it and will always be there to help you and talk with you.”

-Natalie

“The Fostering Future Program has been an amazing help while I was getting my Bachelor’s Degree. I cannot stress enough how convenient and helpful it was for me to not stress about the things they helped me with. How it took a tremendous amount of weight off my shoulders. I am a single mom with a little boy who is hearing impaired. Fostering Future helped ease my stress with a lot of things. They were such a big help in my process with school and graduating. “Push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you” I always told myself since I was 11 years old that I would be somebody and break that cycle and that is exactly what I did. I am that 1 percent.”

– Desiree, UTSA FFP Alumni and Bexar County Juvenile Justice Department Employee
