UTSA is committed to the wellbeing of each member of the campus community and recognizes that numerous factors contribute to overall wellness: physical and mental health, diet and nutrition, physical activity, stress management and self-care, social behaviors and more.
Wellbeing Services integrates health education, promotion and support services to provide a comprehensive approach to student wellbeing. Weekly workshops educate on trauma management, dealing with difficult situations, and learning techniques and skills to cope with anxiety and depression.
As part of the university’s commitment to student success, Wellbeing Services promotes and connects existing health-related services while developing new programming. Wellbeing Services’ events, workshops and programs focus on the eight dimensions of wellbeing — physical, social, spiritual, environmental, financial, occupational, emotional and intellectual.
Funds from last year's Giving Day made it possible to host events like the Roadrunner Days Wellbeing Fair, The Homecoming Pre-Game, and Mega Lungs which connected students to campus and community resources while also promoting healthy behaviors.
Support for this project ensures the variety of workshops, trainings, events and outreach opportunities continue to promote healthy behaviors, and build coping and help-seeking habits, while also reducing high-risk behaviors regarding sex, health and substance abuse.
“Wellbeing Services is a great department on campus because they spread accurate information to students and engage with the community in various ways. This is essential for students to have access to community resources and attend on-campus events. The importance of health is essential in college because college students are still navigating unknown steps in life. UTSA Wellbeing Services provide students the support to make healthy decisions and response to any concern’s students may have. I appreciate all the support and advice from the Wellbeing Services staff because of their dedication to helping students succeed.”
