Game on!
Who is the Honors College?
2100+ hard-working, creative students from all majors and all colleges make up the Honors College. Honors gives ‘Runners more opportunities: more hands-on learning, more internships, more study abroad, more research, more financial support, and more advising to achieve their goals. Think of Honors as the rocket booster for our undergraduate ‘Runners.
What is the Honors College?
An individualized, interdisciplinary and applied learning journey, tailored to each student’s professional goals.
Living in Guadalupe Hall: In their first year, Honors students live and learn together in Guadalupe Hall, building communities of support for the entirety of their time at UTSA.
Making Friends and Having Fun in Student Life: Honors hosts or cohosts 300+ events per year, including Honors in the City, which takes students to cultural, social and recreational events in San Antonio, like the San Antonio Ballet, the Botanical Gardens, and San Pedro Playhouse.
Learning While Skill Building: Whether building canoe paddles in a maker space while learning about urban ecology, traversing National Parks to conduct research, or learning chemistry while cooking, Honors courses are about applying knowledge to learn skills through memorable experiences and that relate to all majors – or life. Our award-winning faculty come from all colleges.
Taking It Even Further With Special Programs:
Focusing In With College Honors Programs: partners with Carlos Alvarez College of Business, College of Sciences, and the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (and all other colleges have honors programs in development)
Being Supported: With drop-in advising on goal-setting and making the most of college, our Academic Counseling team not only stands at the ready to help but reaches out to students through events and supportive comms. We offer student scholarships, big and small, so students have more access to learning while doing, social events to network, and professional development. Honors offers specialized advising for large, national awards to fully fund summer research, study abroad, and even graduate school, making students even more competitive for their next professional step.
And Honors is growing. Soon, we’ll be at least 1 in 10 students at UTSA. Help Honors do EVEN MORE for our ‘Runners!
