A message from Ed Conroy:
“You are warmly invited to join me in honoring the special people who administer and teach in the Young Artist Programs and the Adult Community Program at UTSA!
Under the leadership of Dr. Melissa Mahan of the Department of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE), these talented professionals have revived the community arts programs to continue providing enriching educational experiences to thousands of students from all backgrounds.
I am the father of a daughter who grew up in the Young Artist Programs and who served as an artist-teacher in the schools of New Orleans after graduating from college. These visual arts programs make a positive difference in the social, emotional and academic development of young people. Additionally, I have seen friends find new outlets for their creativity and made countless new friends when they join the adult community classes.
For these reasons and more, I am moved to honor Dr. Mahan and her staff who have devoted much time and attention to advancing the mission of the Community Arts Programs so that they continue to be a positive force for creative expression among the people of San Antonio and our surrounding area.”
