College for Health, Community and Policy

What does my gift support at the College for Health, Community and Policy during UTSA Giving Day?

1. College Challenge: Inaugural HCAP Graduate Scholarship

Did you know that each department offers a master's degree? Since its inception in 2020, we have worked hard to develop new degree programs that truly bridge HCAP's mission to the community. This year, help us raise funds for graduate scholarship support so we can continue to advance our research and education for deserving students.

2. Department Funds - FIND YOUR DEPARTMENT AND GIVE TODAY!

Your gift to the department of your choice will help fund the following:

  • Leadership training and professional development for students
  • Research stipends for students as they pursue their passions
  • Networking opportunities for students to get career-ready by connecting with successful alumni

Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice: Offering an MS and a BA, we train nearly 1,000 undergraduate students and approximately 50 graduate students to become leaders in their field. Our students are required to complete 300 community hours as part of a degree internship.

Department of Kinesiology: With over 1,000 undergraduates pursuing a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, students can choose between four concentrations: athletic training; exercise physiology; kinesiology and health science; and physical education. We also offer an undergraduate certificate in athletic coaching.

Department of Nutrition and Dietetics: Our unique program offers a three-year joint degree, including a BS in nutrition and dietetics and a Master of Dietetic Studies (MDS). The combined degrees offer over 1,000 clock hours of supervised practice experience equivalent to an internship. In addition, we have a 100% job-placement rate with over 14,000 community hours annually.

Department of Psychology: We offer a BA, MS, and Ph.D. and are the largest department in the college. Our degrees prepare students for employment in the private and public sectors in research, data analytics, higher education, counseling, leadership, administration, industry, or consulting.

Department of Public Administration: We offer a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Policy (BPAP) and an MPA. This is the program of choice for those passionate about public service.

Department of Public Health: We are committed to serving our students and community and addressing many public health challenges facing South Texas and beyond. Degree offerings include a BS in public health, MS in heath, community and policy, and graduate certificates. We are also building a School of Public Health in collaboration with UT Health.

Department of Social Work: Our accredited master's program is committed to culturally competent transformative social work. Our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community supporters make our social work community unique. We have a robust practicum requirement with many agency sites serving underserved communities.

Department of Sociology: Sociology students gain access to a world-class faculty engaged in cutting-edge research in areas such as social disparities in health, racial and ethnic relations, immigration and border studies, and much more. We offer a BA and MS in sociology, as well as a BS in Health, Aging and Society.

Department of Demography: Our program focuses on developing an understanding of the conceptual basis of population structure, processes, analytical methods, and related policy issues. We offer a Ph.D. and Master of Science in Applied Demography.
