The UTSA Student Government Association (SGA) has partnered with Wellbeing Services since 2018 to reduce the stigma around menstruation and provide free menstrual hygiene products to students.
Through this partnership, three new dispensers for menstrual hygiene products were added to the Main Campus. In just three semesters, Wellbeing Services has been able to provide over 1000 menstrual hygiene products to students who needed them.
Representatives of SGA are proud of their efforts and look forward to continuing to assist Wellbeing Services with providing for students.
“Increasing the availability of free menstrual hygiene products across UTSA is fundamental to ensure equity and dignity on campus and works to remove financial barriers and social stigma. Menstruation is a biological process that half of the population experiences. No student should be forced to face the anxiety or shame that is often associated with it, nor should they experience a disruption in their educational or professional endeavors.”
- Jasmin Paquet Durand-Ford, SGA President 22- 23
“Women’s health is human health, and human health is a #1 priority.”
- Aydan Villareal, acting communications chair spring ‘23
Wellbeing Services is excited by SGA’s commitment to support their efforts in providing the menstrual hygiene products on campus.
SGA has committed to match all donations to this fund with purchased menstrual hygiene products up to $1000.
