Mariachi Los Paisanos

Mariachi Los Paisanos is one of our fastest-growing music ensembles at UTSA! You’ve seen them perform at UTSA graduation ceremonies, but they also present concerts, perform at many events in the community and participate in the annual Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza competition. The ensemble is dedicated to preserving the authentic culture of mariachi music, and members work hard to improve their skills as vocalists and instrumentalists, as well as their showmanship!

Los Paisanos is growing so fast that we need to purchase additional trajes; this traditional and elaborate performance attire is an integral part of the mariachi culture. We also plan to purchase two instruments, a professional-level guitarron and vihuela, to provide ensemble members with the tools to achieve higher levels of performance. Additional funds will support travel and competition expenses for Mariachi Los Paisanos.

Your gift on UTSA Giving Day, April 4-5, 2023, will help us reach our goals! Every gift makes a difference in our future.
